Have you ever had a reoccurring bad dream about performing?
I have! Not for a while. (-:
However, when I've shared mine with other singers, most have had something similar.
In this Episode I answer a question regarding this subject.
It's actually a question from a student and it inspoired quite a fun and informative discussion.
Lots in this one (so much I can;'t remember as I write this description!)
That's probably not great for SEO...haha
But seriously, Some nice insights and tools came out in this one.
I hope you enjoy it!
Do you listen to your voice so much when you're singing that it throws off your performance?
Do you worry about the sound, the notes, the high notes so much that you can't focus on the meaning of the song, the character and the lyric?
Do you go into fear when you sing if the stakes are high (or higher than usual)?
If so, this Episode of The Inner Singer Podcast is for you!
In this Episode I offer some solutions that should help shift this tendancy.
It's very common and I did it myself for years. Heck, I still do once in a while (and who doesn't!)
However, there is hope so this does not take the fun out of singing and performing.
Listen and try this stuff. (-:
Enjoy!
Is your singing style really authentic style? Or does it mean something else?
For many, what they call style is really a manipulation they've developed to help them get the notes! I've done it. (-:
To them, it's an identity that is tied up in their vocal technique which gets enmeshed and and becomes dysfunctional.
Technique and style need to function separately and freely so that the synergy of the 2 create a wonderful experience for singer and audience.
This is a very overlooked, yet important topic that I dive deep into.
Enjoy and please share if you like it.
Thanks!!
I think we all do this - compare our "backstage" with someone elses "onstage".
Meaning, looking at someone who is showing their absolute best, whether in a show or a recording, this person is putting his/her best foot forward and we are only seeing and hearing what he/she wants us to see and hear.
We are not seeing all the work that has been done to get "onstage" and we have no idea what this person has gone through to get onstage.
So why do most of us compare what we do in our rehearsals, studios, homes, karaoke etc. to someone who has been very calculating regarding what he/she lets us see or hear?
In this Episode of The Inner Singer Podcast I discuss the 2 meanings of "backstage" and "onstage" and how understanding this can propel you forward with your singing!
Enjoy (-:
In this Episode I discuss the potential negative impact of setting singing goals from the wrong place.
Consider this quote from Einstein:
"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."
Do you practice or play at your singing?
As you'll discover in this episode there is a distinct difference between the two.
Research shows that being in a playful, joyful attitude and brain state is much more conducive to learning and making fast progress.
The old "No pain no gain" when it comes to the mental game is very outdated!
Is singing or "practicing" on your "I have to do it" list, or on your "I get to do it" list?
I have a lot of experience with both, and the "I get to do it" is much more productive and expedites your progress!
Listen and enjoy. (-:
In this Episode I discuss the huge difference between Motivation and Inspiration.
They may not seem different, but they are totally different!
Motivation comes from the head. Inspiration comes from the heart (and deeper).
Do you need to be motivated to sing or practice as much as you'd like to?
Usually we need motivation to do things we Don't like to do.
Do you know the extreme difference between the two?
You'll take away some key inspirations that will get you back to the love and joy of singing - no matter your level. (-:
Enjoy!
Have you ever felt that you make some progress with your singing/voice and then regress?
You move forward with your singing and then you go backwards?
In this Episode we put and end to the Myth of, "2 Steps Forward and 1 Step Back!", for good.
There is no reason to frame your singing progress this way any more.
Listen to this weeks show and hear why.
This is really cool. (-:
Let your Inner Singer soar!

In this Episode I offer a reframe of the concept of "Performance".
It's a powerful tool that can assist you immediately whether your performances are on Broadway, in a recording studio or concert, or simply alone at home.
If for some reason you don't think this is for you, you may want to consider that those thoughts may be coming from your programming and conditioning...and listen any way with an open mind.
Just sayin'...
Enjoy!!
In this Episode I describe something that may be limiting your vocal ability and slowing down your process of reaching your wonderful singing potential.
It has to do with something that you probably use everyday in your car or your home.
Of course, in the car or home it's a mechanical "thing", however, what I'm speaking about is just as real in our singing lives.
Understanding and utilizing this will raise the bar on your singing and help you reach you wonderful potential - and ENJOY the process!
Have fun with this. (-:
